Biography:
Dr. Williams earned her PhD at Augusta University and is a tenured professor at the University of Kentucky. She has a background in nursing with specialized training as a family nurse practitioner. Her community-engaged research examines interventions related to obesity, diabetes prevention, cancer screening and cardiovascular disease risk reduction among adults. Through this work, she has developed extensive expertise in qualitative inquiry, mixed-methods design and integrating community-based perspectives into rigorous scientific frameworks. She has published and presented her work nationally and internationally.

Dr. Williams’ research interests focus on community-engaged health interventions aimed at preventing and managing chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular conditions and cancer. Her work emphasizes the development and evaluation of evidence-based strategies to improve population health outcomes, particularly among adult populations. Additionally, her research explores health promotion, disease prevention and healthcare accessibility, with a focus on translating research findings into practical, community-based solutions that enhance public health and reduce health disparities.
